A brief history...

Alfred Babino was born January 5, 1944 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and grew up in that area singing in the church choir. He started performing professionally at age 15, and was dubbed "Lil' Alfred" by a local DJ. His first recordings were for veteran record producer, George Khoury, and they earned him regional and national recognition. In 1964 he joined the group, Cookie & the Cupcakes, after Cookie (Huey Thierry) was injured in a car accident. Alfred recorded and toured with the Cupcakes until 1967 whn he joined the Boogie Kings in Las Vegas. He later toured with the National Soul Revue and has since toured with many other groups in past years. In 1995, he re-joined the Cupcakes for their appearance as the headliner group at a huge blues festival in Holland.

Lil' Alfred has been inducted three times into the Louisiana Hall of Fame... twice as a member of groups, The Boogie Kings and Cookie & the Cupcakes, and once as a solo artist. He's a warm and emotional singer, and becomes totally involved in everything he sings.

Alfred Babino passed away November 15, 2007.
